Christie Clinic, LLC and others vs. General Reinsurance Corporation (Gen Re) and others
If you were a certificate holder or otherwise insured with The Reciprocal Alliance (“TRA”) or the Doctors Insurance Reciprocal (“DIR”) at any time between January 1, 1998 and January 31, 2003, you may be eligible to receive compensation from a class action settlement. The federal court authorized this Notice.
The Settlement Class is defined as follows:
Any persons or entities who purchased or were insured under a policy issued by Doctors Insurance Reciprocal (“DIR”) and/or The Reciprocal Alliance (“TRA”) at any point in time between January 1, 1998, and January 31, 2003, or any persons or entities who made a claim on or received a payment from the DIR Receivership and/or the TRA Receivership;
Excluded from the Class are:
A. All claimants whose claims are asserted pursuant to an assignment of a Proof of Claim in the DIR Receivership or the TRA Receivership;
B. All persons or entities who have executed releases with respect to any and all claims against the Gen Re Defendants that they may have had as a result of having purchased and/or being insured under a DIR and/or TRA policy during the Relevant Period.
If you received a written notice in the mail directing you to this site, the records compiled by the receivers for TRA and DIR indicated that you may have been an insured during the time period.
The Court in charge of the case is the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee and the case is known as Christie Clinic, LLC, et al. v. General Reinsurance Corporation, et al., cause no. 03-CV-2859.
If you are unsure if you are a member, you should review the declaration sheet of your malpractice insurance policies that cover any part of the time period. If you no longer have them, you should call your insurance agent. If in doubt, you can fill out and return the claim form.
